Cabrera/ Nagua
Entering Nagua! Most cities has a sign entering and leaving the city

Nagua is a city in the Dominican Republic and the principal municipality of Maria Trinidad Sanchez on the northeast (Atlantic) coast of the island. It used to be a fishing town, but it became a town in the second half of the 20th century. Most tourists leave these places undiscovered, and that is their loss. This city is the centre of a bus that goes around the island. Explore other parts of Nagua by bus. In addition to being an important transportation hub, Nagua has a beautiful golden sandy beach called Playa de Los Gringos, separated from the road by palm trees.

Nice and breezy Gringo Beach lol

To be honest, I did not find this beach to be anything special, it was quite deserted and full of seaweed. The coast of Nagua is just 2.6 km away from the city centre, and the magic of the Dudu blue lagoon is why people come to visit this place even after years. Because it is less known to many people, whoever comes here, finds this place to be neat, safe, and in a nutshell, to die for.

The Blue Lagoon. Try it, kinda scary but fun too!
Now if we look at the Blue Lagoon called DUDU. Well, personally people say it is in Nagua, however it is actually closer to Cabrera. Christian Bale was also here about 3 years ago. I went last year and it was really good fun, however you do need to know how and when to fall as it can be a tad painful but at the same time lots of fun and so cheap to do. Take a look at my video, which was filmed with a drone and my Galaxy Note 8, to see what it looks like as they renovated the place to make it safer and more modern.

Cabrera

Most cities in DR have these colourful signs when you drive in and out of the cities!

Cabrera is 30km north of Nagua and about a 2-and-a-half-hour bus ride from the capital city and again super cheap. I would highly recommend going with Caribe Tours, as their buses have AC, are not usually full, and are comfy. Check out the link for prices.

Beaches

Beautiful Playa Grande. One of, if not the best beach in the north of DR.

The most eye-catching beach in the area is Playa Grande (Grand Beach), where Condé Nast Traveler called it one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Playa Grande beach, long, disserted, surrounded by vegetation and the sound of the ocean roar

Playa Precioso, El Diamante (Diamond Beach), El Caleton de Dario, El Caleton del Medio, El Caleton Chiquito are a few beaches to mention.

Playa Diamante, known for its blue waters and tranquil nature.

It is usually crystal clear, but today was a little choppy

You could go around if you had the time and visit other places like La Entrada Beach, Piscina Natural La Catalina Cabrera, and restaurants like Manny’s bar-restaurant are the places which make it hard for people to forget this place even after years.

The beautiful coast of Cabrera and the sun setting.

Come and see for yourself the magic Cabrera holds. This place has much more to do and see compared to Nagua. The good thing about Nagua is that it is next to Samaná, but beach wise, go further north.

As you can see there are little beaches, pieces of heaven hidden away along the coastline of Cabrera
